Using the genetic keys of the new species you create you can unlock the paths between the waking and dreaming worlds, explore the land of those still hibernating, and embark on a journey to help restore the lost populations and find out what happened.

I still need to gather a bunch of mushrooms and plan things out to get the perfect set of numbers--and sometimes need to plan out several generations in a row!--so the effort still feels rewarded. It is more of an 'active' breeding system than past games. Less waiting, less RNG, more gameplay.

- Hybrid powder/mushroom tooltips will now correctly list all seperate effects from the two mushrooms rather than a combined calculation.

You awaken from your hibernation to find your pond abandoned and empty. Through a combination of crafting minigames, menu management and puzzle solving, experiment with genetics to breed new frogs and recover what was lost.

This may change as I play more, but for now it is very straightforward. I can find things without resorting to going to a wiki and finding that Em excesso Rare Frog 1 and Super Common Frog 2 have a 1% chance of making a legendary secret species or something.

You can press space to ribbit and nearby frogs will ribbit back. Not sure what else the game does but definitely worth a try if that's your thing.  

-There is a pokedex-like page for the frogs, which helps you find Mudborne Gameplay variants and gives you really cute images of your frog species in their conterraneo environment (an environment which might be a pile of other sleepy, tiny frogs).

Mudborne is being created by ellraiser, one half of the indie-dev studio, TNgineers. A spiritual successor of sorts to APICO, Mudborne instead focuses on genetic manipulation and generational puzzles to create and discover all sorts of frog species, with experimentation being encouraged.

using the empyrean variant instead of the normal variant makes Pondmother cutscene stuck on only you going up instead of also the hat guy, even though the pondmother accepts the sleeping variant

(if you're trying to use them to open Northern Pool you should instead look at INVERSE N along with the earlier mushrooms)
